SQL Server 2005 Integration Services: Deep Dive into the Lookup Transformation
Speaker: Lara Rubbelke, Microsoft

Challenged with designing temporary tables in SQL Server Integration Services? Need to match data from multiple sources? This session will focus on the Lookup transformation, with demonstrations of various use cases and implementation models.

Lara Rubbelke brings her passion for architecting, implementing and improving SQL Server solutions to the community as a Technology Specialist for Microsoft. Data Compression: Is Your Database Too Big?
Speaker: Sunil Agarwal, Microsoft

Data Compression: Is your database big? Are you interested in reducing its size to 1/2 or even to 1/3? The new release of SQL Server will provide you native data compression for your tables, indexes and partitions that can significantly reduce the size of your database. A smaller database can lead to better performance for IO bound loads, reduce memory requirement and the manageability cost (e.g. backup/recovery) of your database. This session describes how SQL Server compresses the data in SQL Server, common usage scenarios and its impact on the workload.

Sunil Agarwal is a Senior Program Manager in SQL Server Storage Engine Group, Prior to joining Microsoft, Sunil had worked in Digital Equipment Corp, Sybase, BMC Software and DigitalThink with primary focus on core database engine technology and related applications. Sunil holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from IIT, Kanpur, India, and has done graduate work in Computer Science at University of Rhode Island and at Brown University".
